Tutorials - XTC loops

XTC loops are midi, audio or drum parts saved as files. You can easely create and manage your own loops library and re-use the files in new projects.

One of the best thing about XTC loops, is that you can save VST patches with it. This means that if you save a bassline part with your favorite VST instrument (or the built-in synthesizer) and later drag the file into a new project, it will not only load the bass pattern but also load the VST instrument including the patch automatically.

Setting up the folder for XTC files

In the main menu, select File > Setup, or press F6 to open the setup window. In setup, select Folders, then click on the Clips section.

Finally, click the Add button, and find (or create) the clips folder. In our example, we are using c:\audio\clips. After your clips folder is setup properly, you will find all your loops & clips in the browser ready to be dragged into your project.

Adding XTC files to your project

Adding XTC files is as simple as click and drag from the browser into the sequencer. The files will show up as midi, audio or drum parts in the sequencer.

Creating your own XTC files

After you have made a great sounding bassline and have decided to save it in your loop library, just highlight the part, then select Save as... from the Part menu.

Note that XTC's are self-containing, so any sample, drum or patch you save is always included in the XTC file. Makes it perfect to share with other energyXT2 users on the internet.
