Tutorials - Getting started
energyXT2 is a all-in-one music solution. It comes with a built-in synthesizer with sample support, multi-fx processor and a powerful sequencer supporting VST plugins, audio recording, time-stretching and pitch-shifting. In other words, all you need to create music now! Overview Starting with the main toolbar, energyXT2 has a quick-menu for launching your latest projects. There is a tempo control, and the typical transport buttons for playback, stop, rewind and record.
On the left you find the browser. Using the browser, you can drag and drop anything from VST plugins to synthesizer presets and samples into your project. The search function works great for finding just the file you want in no time. Installing energyXT2 requires ASIO soundcard on Windows. If you don't have ASIO drivers, a universal ASIO driver can be downloaded from www.asio4all.com and installed on your PC and should work with any soundcard out there. To install on windows, run the installer and follow the instructions on screen. On Linux, ALSA compatible soundcard is required and usually works out-of-the box on most Linux distributions. For those running a Jack audio server, source code is available for building Jack support into energyXT2. Check out our support forum for more info. To install on Linux, extract to your Home or Desktop folder, then double click energyXT to launch. Setting up audio energyXT2 will autodetect your soundscard, but for fine tuning audio buffer size and sample rate, open the Setup window from the File menu (or press F6)
Setting up MIDI keyboard A MIDI keyboard can be used to playback VST instruments in energyXT2, and using the new controller maps, you can even map your MIDI controller to any parameter like mixer volume, pan, eq and VST parameters. Great fun!To setup up one or more MIDI keyboards, just enabled them (click the checkmark) in the MIDI setup Window.
Starting a new project To start a new project in energyXT2, select New sequencer from the File menu. Thats it! You are now ready to make some beats. Check out our tutorials for using VST instruments and effects in your new project.
