Tutorials - Sequencer
The sequencer in energyXT2 works like classic sequencer like Cubase and Logic. It has tracks and parts on a timeline. Track types energyXT2 has MIDI tracks for playing back VST instruments and the built-in synthesizer, it has audio tracks for playing back samples and REX2 files, and a new drum track for creating drum patterns to trigger drum samples loaded into the track. In addition you have folder track, used only to group other tracks. Folder tracks can be minimized, thereby hiding all tracks inside it, a great feature for big projects with lots of tracks.Adding new tracks To add new tracks, select the track type you want from the track menu. You can also press Ctrl + Insert to add new tracks. The new track will get the same mode as the track currently selected.
Creating tracks by drag and drop When you drag and drop a synthesizer preset, a VST instrument into the track panel, or a XTC midi file into the part view a new MIDI track will be created automatically.
Dropping a sample, REX2 file or XTC audio file below the last track will crate a new audio track. Dropping a sample into the track panel below the last track will create a new drum track. Input and output MIDI tracks has midi input and output. Right-click the track and select input/output from the popup menu. The same MIDI track can be routed to multiple VST instruments.
Audio track has both audio in and out. Right-click and select input/output from the popup menu, then select the audio device you want to connect to the track.
Song position and loop Over the part view, you find the timeline where you can set the song position and loop points. To set the song position, left click in the timeline (or middle-click in the part view). For setting the loop, click and drag in the timeline to set the new loop points. Looping can be toggled on/off by pressing the loop button. Another way to set the loop points is to select one or more parts, then press ctrl + return to play the selection in loop.
Snap Snap is used to align moving, copying and other edit operations to a specific interval. By default 16th is used as snap. Dotted and triplets are support in energyXT2, as well as both relative and absolute snap. Relative snap aligns to the current position, while absolute snap aligns to grid.
Zoom You can zoom in/out with the PC keyboard using the + and – keys. To zoom with the mouse, press ctrl while dragging the mouse wheel. It will then zoom right below the mouse cursor. Pressing ctrl + + will zoom in on your selection. If no parts are highlighted, or will auto fit the whole song inside the part view.
Scrolling No need to use the scrollbars in energyXT2, you can use mouse wheel and even right-click and drag in the part view to scroll in any direction.» Return to tutorials » Download energyXT2 now! » For questions or suggestions, visit our support forum |
