Tutorials - REX2

REX2 is a file format for sampled grooves created in Propellerhead's ReCycle. By slicing up samples, the result is tempo independent loops that can be re-used in energyXT2. The loops will automatically be slaved to the tempo of the song. REX2 files are found on various sample CD's, but is only supported in the Windows version.

Setting up the root folder for your REX2 files

In the main menu, select File > Setup, or press F6 to open the setup window. In setup, select Folders, then click on the Clips section.

Finally, click the Add button, and find your REX2 root folder. In our example, the REX2 files are stored in c:\audio\clips\rex2

After your REX2 folder is setup properly, you will find all your grooves in the Loops & clips section in the browser.

Adding REX2 files to your project

Adding REX2 files is as simple as click and drag from the browser into the sequencer. The REX2 files will show up as normal audio clips in energyXT2 and can be copied and edited just like any other audio clips.

Editing groove slices

Double-click on the audio part to open the audio editor. Picture below shows the inidividual slices of the REX2 files. Here you can move, copy, stretch, pitch-shift and reverse slices to your harts content.
