Tutorials - MIDI parts

MIDI Parts in the sequencer acts as containers for MIDI notes and events (like program change and aftertouch). MIDI tracks in the sequencer can contain any number of MIDI parts.

Creating a new MIDI part on a track

You create a new part by double-clicking in the part view.



Double-click the part to open the MIDI editor. In the MIDI editor, you can double-click (or alt + left-click) to insert notes. Right-click on notes to delete them, or shift + drag select a few notes and press the delete key.



Moving and copying notes

Just click and drag to move notes. Multiple notes can be moved at the same time, you just need to highlight them first. To highlight notes, press shift while dragging the mouse around them. You can also move notes with your PC keyboard, just press the Ctrl + one of the arrow buttons to move in any direction.

Copying notes works just the same way, but you just have press the Ctrl key while dragging the highlighted notes to a new location.

Resizing notes

When moving the mouse close to the start or ending edge of a note, the mouse will turn into a resize cursor. Then just click and drag the note to its new size. Using the PC keyboard, first highligth the notes then press alt + left or right arrow button.

Splitting notes

Notes can be split in two. Press the alt key, then right-click on the note at the location you want it to be cut in two.
