Tutorials - Controller maps
Controller maps is a new feature that lets you control energyXT2 from an external MIDI controller. This can be anything from volume, pan, EQ and FX to VST parameters. You can create multiple controller maps, having on map for mixing, another one for VST parameters and yet another for FX parameters. You can even controll multiple VST's with the same controller map. To open the Controller map window, click the MIDI button in the main toolbar.
Adding parameters to the controller map Adding parameters is really simple. First enable the learn button in the controller map window. When learn mode is activated, any parameter you change in the GUI is autodetected by energyXT2 and added to the current controller map.
So, to add a new paremeter first drag a parameter on a VST instrument, then finally move a knob on your MIDI controller. Thats it, the parameter is now connected to the controller knob. In the example blow we have mapped our MIDI controller to the Cutoff parameter in Tau synthesizer.
Repeat this until all the parameters you want to automate is added to the controller map. Then disable the learn button. When you close the controller map window, the learn mode will deactivate automatically. Mapping mixer parameters is as simple as with VST's. Just drag the volume fader or pan value box in the mixer, then turn a knob on your midi controller and they simply connect. In picture below we have mapped volume, pan, cutoff and Q on Tau the synthesizer on the same controller map.
Adding another controller map Select Add from the program menu to add additional controller maps.
