Tutorials - Automation
All parameters in energyXT2 can be automated from within the sequencer, including volume, pan, mute, EQ, FX and VST parameters. Automation is to change values over time, like fading volume in/out or sweeping/stepping filter cutoff in sync with the song are commonly used. Automation events in energyXT is stored inside the midi, audio and drum clips. So when you move, copy or ghost copy parts, the automation goes with it. Setting up parameters to automate First, double-click the track (or press E) to set the track in edit mode. Then select one or more parameters to automate. Click the "+" button to get a list of the avialable parameters.
The parameters you pick, will show up as sub-tracks on the track itself. The picture below shows volume and cutoff on the first MIDI track.
Adding automation events Autmation events are stored within the midi, audio or drum part. To add new automation events to a part, just double-click (or alt + left-click) on the parameter lane. You can right-click events to delete, or select a few events with shift + mouse drag and pressing the delete key.
Recording automation While simple fade ins and outs may be fast to knock up with the mouse, more advanced patterns may be much easier to just record on the fly from the GUI. To record parameter changes, first press record and then just drag the param value box while the song is playing. The changes will be recorded into the part. Didnt work out on first take, press Ctrl + Z to undo, and try again.
